Garbage Disposal Leak
Garbage disposal leak is of the most common problems for which you do not have to call your plumber. You can fix it on your and save a lot of money. All you will need is some basic tools and to determine the site of the leak.
There are several different causes of garbage disposal leak which may also require a professional repair or even replacement of your disposal unit. However, garbage disposal leaks are most common at sink flange, at the discharge drain line or dishwasher line connection which can be easily repaired on your own in few minutes. To eliminate the leak at the sink flange try to move your garbage disposal. If it does not move you do not have leak at the sink flange but if it does you will need to remove your disposal unit and tighten the mounting bolts but after you turn off turn the electrical current to the disposal unit. Possible cause for leak at the sink flange could be also failed plumbers putty.
If the sink flange is not the problem of the garbage disposal leak you should tighten the rotating clamp to the discharge drain as well as the clamp on the dishwasher line connection. After eliminating the leak at the sink flange and tightening the clamps to the discharge drain and on the dishwasher line connection garbage disposal leak should be fixed. Just in case put a bucket or an old towel beneath it when testing it.
